Mid-evening on Thursday EMS Manager Bill Miller rolled up on a vehicle in the ditch at Haywood Taylor Blvd and US 98, Bill contacted the Sebring PMT station, just a minute away, for an ALS unit while another bystander called 911. 3 patients were seriously injured in the accident including one Trauma Alert air lifted to Tampa General Hospital. Positive's M 5 and HCEMS ALS 5 also transported 2 patients to Highlands Regional ER for evaluation. Today PMT placed in service it's 15th ambulance! This ambulance is a little different than the rest, it's 4 wheel drive! By expanding into the all wheel drive type of unit we can now more efficiently respond to natural disasters and emergencies occurring off the beaten path. Like our bariatric stretcher this particular resource is unique in the Heartland as we are the only ambulance service that has one. Area EMS and Fire have been notified and plan on using us in the event their regular front line units can't access a patient. We can also now better serve events like Mudfest and others in the outdoor setting. We're excited to be getting a little dirty, click here to check out a complete list of our services!

Four massive bursh fires quickly overwhelmed OCFR crews for 3 days resulting in an all hands on deck fire department response. With every available OCFR unit tied up with brush fire suppresion PMT was called to respond to 911 calls in their place. Positive ALS crews succesfully responded to numerous scene calls thanks to a previsouly in place agreement for mutual aid between PMT and Okeechobee County. The agreement alows PMT to step up in place of County ambulances in the event of overwhelming catastrophe. At one point PMT had 5 units in place in county for immidiate response. Just another example of PMT and our personnell going above and beyond to serve our community. http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/region_okeechobee_county/division-of-forestry-battling-several-brush-fires-in-okeechobee-county

Positive Medical took delivery of 6 Hospira IV pumps today decreasing the likely hood that any PMT unit will need to take a hospital pump for a transport. Today PMT received its newest bariatric stretcher. This stretcher can move a patient up to 1600 lbs and is capable of being winched into a specialty bariatric transport unit. Two additional Positive Medical drivers and 1 EMT are now fully capable of driving any of PMT's emergency vehicles. All three successfully completed our new in house EVOC program through the nationally accredited VFIS. Josh Taylor, Germaine Rodriguez, and Ryan Collins all successfully completed the timed vehicle operations class with 100% accuracy: not hitting a single cone! The course they completed in 8 minutes or less had them maneuvering everything from PMT's largest ambulance to the Type I van units through a course as narrow as 8' 6", that's only 4 inches of clearance for our Freightliner, M2(link)! Congratulate them when you see them out, contact us if you think you're up to the challenge!

Today dispatcher Abe Caraballo and driver Joel Gutierrez returned from New York with our newest addition, 2 brand new type II E 350’s. The units will be marked M 7 and M 8, bring the total number of PMT ambulances to 8! These units will be used for short distance BLS due to their small size and improved city driving ability. Thanks to our 2 “delivery boys” for getting them home safe!
Monday, 22 February 2010 16:01
At approx 14:00 PMT dispatch received a request from Highlands County EMS to respond to an overturned charter bus with “everything you’ve got” PMT immediately dispatched 5 units; 3 ALS 2 BLS to the scene. At the end of the incident PMT had transported 7 patients to area emergency rooms. After the initial call PMT stood up all available ALS units for emergent evacuation of critical patients to area Trauma Centers in Tampa and Orlando. Area ER’s requested PMT transport of severely injured patients, all were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition. It was later learned that PMT had less than a 20 minute ETA in each incident to local ER’s for evacuation, OVER AN HOUR faster than our competition from the coast! PMT would like to thank all of our dedicated employees and county emergency responders for their excellent work. Our condolence goes out to all the victims and their families struck by this tragedy.
Wednesday, 10 February 2010 00:00
