At approx 14:00 PMT dispatch received a request from Highlands County EMS to respond to an overturned charter bus with “everything you’ve got” PMT immediately dispatched 5 units; 3 ALS 2 BLS to the scene. At the end of the incident PMT had transported 7 patients to area emergency rooms. After the initial call PMT stood up all available ALS units for emergent evacuation of critical patients to area Trauma Centers in Tampa and Orlando. Area ER’s requested PMT transport of severely injured patients, all were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition. It was later learned that PMT had less than a 20 minute ETA in each incident to local ER’s for evacuation, OVER AN HOUR faster than our competition from the coast! PMT would like to thank all of our dedicated employees and county emergency responders for their excellent work. Our condolence goes out to all the victims and their families struck by this tragedy.
